Overview of the Food Industry in the United States.
This study focuses on the consumption of food products in the United States. However, before analyzing consumption, its evolution, and trends, it is necessary to understand the functioning of the food industry in the country and its impact on the economy as a whole.
In this regard, it is worth noting that agriculture, food, and related industries contributed approximately $1.26 trillion* to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the United States of America in 2021, representing 5.4% of the total.
Regarding employment, in 2022, the agricultural and food sectors employed a total of 22.1 million people, both full-time and part-time, which equates to 10.4% of total employment in the United States, demonstrating the significant weight of this industry in the economy.
