Air Europa’s Dreamliner Fleet Achieves 15 Million Passengers Milestone with Focus on Sustainability and Efficiency

Madrid, Abril 2024.- Since the arrival to the fleet of the first unit in 2016, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner has become Air Europa’s main trademark. This model, the most advanced in its category for long-haul flights, has made a significant contribution to the company’s growth, as shown by the number of passengers carried over the years. By the end of 2023, the Dreamliners carried more than 15.6 million passengers, reflecting the value of this aircraft and its role in the transformation and evolution of the airline.

From 2022 and as part of its fleet unification process, all long-haul routes are covered by this model. In fact, in 2023, the Dreamliner fleet broke its passenger record in a single year, well above pre-pandemic levels. This has been made possible not only by the higher capacity of this aircraft, but also by the continuous increase in the number of units. Two new 787s were added last December and four more are scheduled to arrive within 2024, further increasing not only the number of seats available, but also the cargo capacity.

The Dreamliner has meant a major change in Air Europa’s value proposition. On the one hand, it is a key element in the company’s commitment to sustainability. Apart from reducing noise impact by up to 60%, it consumes 20% less fuel than other aircraft in its category thanks to its design and its engines, which also means a significant reduction in emissions.

In addition to its efficiency, it offers a high level of comfort. It has larger windows, more space in the cabin, and an optimised ventilation system, all of which helps to improve passengers’ rest and reduce the fatigue associated with jet lag. Air Europa’s Business Class has also become one of the airline’s main offerings, both for the comfort of its seats, which can be converted into two-metre long beds, and for the variety and quality of the services available. This includes both a wide range of entertainment and the best gastronomic offer with the seal of the chef Martín Berasategui, the most awarded in Spain by Michelin stars
