FUTURE/PROOF Banking Beyond 2030: Designing the Next Era of Finance

FUTURE/PROOF Banking Beyond 2030: Designing the Next Era of Finance

Nov. 2025

The future of banking is no longer only about apps, branches, advisors, or channels. It is about intelligence, adaptability, and trust.

That was the message at FUTURE/PROOF Banking Beyond 2030, where NTT DATA Europe & LATAM, US Branch, brought together global leaders in Miami to ask the questions that will define the next decade: What will banking look like in 2030? How will we scale emerging technologies responsibly? And how do we keep trust at the center of it all?

Beyond Pilots, Toward Platforms

Generative AI has moved past the hype cycle. Banks are no longer experimenting at the margins—they are embedding AI into the very fabric of their business. From personalized wealth advice to predictive fraud detection, the shift is underway.

But as NTT DATA’s leaders stressed, success won’t come from who adopts AI first, but from who scales it best—ethically, strategically, and sustainably.

A New Vision of Leadership

The CEO conversation captured the challenge ahead.

  • Maurici Lladó, CEO of Banco Sabadell, echoed the importance of the human factor: technology must not distance banks from customers but bring them closer. The leaders of tomorrow, he noted, will need curiosity, adaptability, and purpose above all.
  • Víctor Sierra, Managing Partner at NTT DATA Europe & LATAM, US Branch, called the bank of the future “adaptive, intelligent, and trusted.” He argued that winning banks will be those that combine innovation with resilience, balancing global connectivity with local nuance, and digital speed with human depth.

From Automation to Autonomy

The event also looked ahead to the frontier of Agentic AI—autonomous systems that don’t just automate tasks, but make decisions within defined risk thresholds. As Jaime Gutiérrez, Director of Agentic AI at NTT DATA Europe & LATAM, US Branch, explained: these agents are becoming “the next team members in your organization—tireless, contextual, and safe.”

This shift signals a deeper transformation. Banks are not simply adopting new tools; they are re-architecting operating models, governance structures, and the very nature of human-machine collaboration.

Strategic Foresight: Designing the Future, Not Predicting It

NTT DATA’s foresight research reminds us that the future is not something to wait for—it is something to design. By scanning early signals, exploring scenarios, and applying long-term vision, banks can move faster from possibility to action.

Among the signals:

  • Autonomous financial agents managing portfolios and transactions on behalf of clients.
  • Programmable money flowing seamlessly across ecosystems.
  • Digital identity ecosystems where banks act as anchors of trust in society.

Each is more than a trend; each is a choice about the kind of financial system we want to build. The approach to understand trends and how they affect businesses and operating models has to be strategic, top-down, and can be designed through a specific NTT DATA proven playbook.

The FUTURE/PROOF Mindset

As Fernando González, Head of Financial Services at NTT DATA, concluded:

“For us, FUTURE/PROOF is not a one-day event. It’s a mindset. The winners of tomorrow won’t just adapt to change—they will define what comes next.”

The future of banking won’t be written by technology alone. It will be shaped by the leadership decisions we make today—how we balance innovation with responsibility, speed with trust, and ambition with humanity.

At NTT DATA, we believe the task is clear: not just to keep up with disruption, but to design the future of finance—boldly, responsibly, and with purpose.
