Direct lending in Spain: Key aspects and trends

Spanish and international private debt funds are now very active. Direct lending gained traction in Spain through the granting of, amongst others, mezzanine loans and loans for financing real estate projects and acquisitions. Under the pandemic-induced financial distress, the complexity of bespoke loans to be granted by direct lending participants in the short and mid-term is expected to increase and will require sophisticated solutions through a wide range of instruments.
