The week of June 22nd–26th, 2025, is marking a milestone in the bilateral relations between the Community of Madrid and the United States, with the institutional visit of President Isabel Díaz Ayuso and a delegation of rectors from the main public universities of Madrid.
At the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce, we have had the privilege of collaborating and supporting this important agenda, which has focused on education, talent, and investment as drivers of shared growth.
Sunday, June 22nd: Meet & Greet at the InterContinental Hotel
The trip began in Miami with a high-level gathering at the InterContinental Hotel, where President Díaz Ayuso and the university rectors met with Hispanic students and members of the Spanish community living in the city.
The goal: to showcase the appeal and opportunities offered by Madrid’s university system to international students, with a special focus on Spanish speakers.
This event marked the launch of an institutional campaign that will tour the United States—the leading source of foreign direct investment in Spain—with the aim of solidifying Madrid’s image as an academic and business benchmark.

Monday, June 23rd: Education and Talent in a Global World
The second day took place at the Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College, during a strategic meeting organized by the Community of Madrid in partnership with the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce. Under the slogan “Estudia en Madrid, vive Madrid” (“Study in Madrid, live Madrid”), President Díaz Ayuso emphasized that the region is home to “the best public universities in Spain, according to Forbes,” and highlighted the importance of making Madrid a second home for Hispanic American and U.S. students.

The panel featured academic leaders from both sides of the Atlantic, including Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega, Madrid’s Regional Minister of Education Emilio Viciana, and the rectors of Madrid’s public universities.
This dialogue inspired new opportunities for international and business cooperation, laying the groundwork for future institutional partnerships.

Throughout the day, the Madrid delegation also held meetings with representatives from Florida International University and the University of Miami. These meetings allowed for the exploration of agreements on student and faculty mobility, joint applied research projects, and the exchange of best practices in educational innovation.

At the Chamber, we have supported and enhanced each of these conversations, fostering institutional dialogue and the identification of collaboration opportunities.
Tuesday, June 24th: Innovation and Knowledge Transfer
The agenda continued with a visit to the Artificial Intelligence Center at Miami Dade College, a leading institution in the integration of artificial intelligence into academic training and knowledge transfer. Without a doubt, this center stands out for its practical and cross-disciplinary approach, enabling the integration of AI across various fields of knowledge and productive sectors.
Later, a meeting was held with Academica, a global network of schools and digital learning centers, with the goal of exploring synergies and shared educational projects.
Wednesday, June 25th: Expand to Europe Via Madrid
The week will conclude in New York with the official launch of the Community of Madrid’s new global strategy for attracting foreign direct investment.
The main event will take place at the NH Collection New York Madison Avenue Hotel, with the participation of President Isabel Díaz Ayuso and the Regional Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert.
The goal is to position Madrid as a priority destination for investment and innovation, and to strengthen its role as the gateway to Europe for U.S. companies.
Conclusion
This week has been a clear example of how institutional collaboration and networking can create real opportunities for the business and academic communities of both countries.
At the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce, we will continue to support initiatives that strengthen ties between Madrid and the United States, while promoting Spain’s international presence as a strategic destination for talent, investment, and innovation.
