INFRASTRUCTURE SUMMIT 2024

This event set to take place on October 30, 2024 brings together key players and decision-makers in infrastructure development, focusing on the future of projects in the U.S. and the Caribbean. In collaboration with leading industry partners, the summit will explore the challenges and opportunities in urban development, sustainability, public-private partnerships, and the financing of major infrastructure projects.

We would like to extend our gratitude to our host, Holland & Knight, for providing the venue and their invaluable support. We also deeply appreciate our presenting sponsor, Sacyr, and our gold sponsor, Sabadell, for their essential contributions in making this summit possible. Thank you to all for your continued partnership and support.

Some of the key topics of the summit will address:

Infrastructure Projects in the Caribbean:
Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic

Join top leaders from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic as they showcase the region's ambitious infrastructure projects, focusing on public-private partnerships (PPP) that are driving economic growth and modernization. This session will offer a comprehensive look at the ongoing and future opportunities for companies interested in the Caribbean market.

Miami-Dade and Broward Counties: Leaders in Infrastructure Development

Miami-Dade and Broward Counties are at the forefront of transformative infrastructure projects. Miami-Dade, benefiting from over $296 million in grants through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), is focused on expanding Miami International Airport, optimizing cargo mobility, and implementing the Net Zero Resiliency Program. These efforts, supported by public-private partnerships, position the county as a leader in sustainable infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Broward County is advancing projects like the $1 billion expansion of the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center and a $500 million rail bridge in Fort Lauderdale, modernizing the region's infrastructure to enhance transportation, public services, and urban aesthetics.

Financing Infrastructure Projects in the U.S.

Leading experts from major financial institutions will break down the best financing mechanisms available for large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in the U.S. public-private partnership (PPP) space. Discussions will include government funding, project finance, and other innovative business models that are driving the successful completion of key infrastructure initiatives.

Building Smart and Sustainable Cities

Explore how urban infrastructure is evolving with the integration of smart technologies and sustainable practices. Experts will share their experiences in transforming cities into eco-friendly, technologically advanced communities that are ready to face the challenges of the future.

FOLLOW UP ON THE IMPACT OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AND JOBS ACT IN 2024

At the Infrastructure Summit 2024, we will revisit the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), originally passed in 2021, to explore its continued impact on infrastructure development in the U.S. and its potential in the years ahead. Since the IIJA’s introduction, key investments have been made in public transit, road and bridge upgrades, airports, ports, and a national network of electric vehicle chargers. The funding has also supported resilient infrastructure projects aimed at addressing climate change challenges.

As the 2024 election approaches, the political landscape is evolving, and the future of the IIJA is in the spotlight. With the act’s spending window closing in 2026, much of the infrastructure funding allocated remains critical. While some advocate for expanding the bill’s reach into sustainable projects and equity initiatives, others propose reducing federal oversight and increasing reliance on public-private partnerships (PPPs). As we navigate this pivotal moment, the summit will analyze how both federal and private investment can continue to reshape the nation’s infrastructure while also examining the implications of a potential shift in leadership after the 2024 election.
